Instructions for Submitting Digital Slides to CAC's Slide Registry

•You may submit up to 16 labeled digital still images on a CD-R.

•Label the CD-R with the applicant's name, contact information and number of images.

•Images must be JPEG compressed 1920 max dimension 72 dpi for best image quality under 2 MB file size. -Do not embed images into PowerPoint or submit website links, or moving image or audio files!-

•Each image file must be named with artist's last name,image number, and title/description. example:Smith_01_title.jpg

Please note: When submitting work digitally, also provide an 8x10 photo quality, labeled, hard copy for each digital image submitted.

•Resume, bio, and support materials must also be submitted in hard copy.

Non standards compliant submissions will not be considered



:: Generic instructions for formatting in a number of photo-editing programs

1. Open the image in a photo-editing program.
2. Open the Image Size or Resize dialog box, which is usually located in one of the toolbar menus.
3. For pictures to be viewed on screen, set the resolution to 72 ppi or dpi.
4. Mask your image with a 1920 pixel x 1920 pixel canvas.
5. Click OK.
6. Click Save As.
7. Rename the picture.
8. Save it in the JPEG format.
9. This preserves the original TIFF file (raw image) for future use.

:: Formatting with Photoshop

1. Download your image from your digital camera to a file on your personal computer.
You must use an image that has at least one side larger than 1920 pixels.
A 4 MB or larger image is ideal.
2. Please save your original image in RAW/TIFF format.
3. Open Photoshop.
4. Go to File and open your image.
5. Go to Image, Image Size:
Make sure you are looking at your image size in pixels.
Make sure that Constrain Proportions is checked.
6. Take the longest side and size it down to 1920.
The shorter side will shrink down in proportion.
7. Go to Color Picker (The overlapping color boxes at the bottom of the main toolbar)
Make sure the background color is black.
8. Go to Image, Canvas Size:
Make sure you are looking at your canvas in pixels.
Size the shortest side to 1920.
Make sure you are anchored in the center.
If your color picker is set, the canvas background will automatically be black.
If you do not have your color picker set prior to increasing your canvas size, you will need to:
Click on Color picker.
Make sure that the background and foreground color is black.
Select your paint bucket.
Click on the white area.
This should only color the white with black.
9. Save your image for the Web:
Go to file Save As.
Make sure your settings are for JPEG.
Name your image.
10. Check Properties:
Right click (on a two button mouse) on the image icon.
Check image size.
If your image file size is LARGER than 1.8 MB, then repeat step 9 using the TIFF you generated and increase compression in the Save menu. Repeat step 10.
