Bios
Carl- Eden W., 15, Community Charter School of Cambridge
I like to do many things. Hang out with my friends and play basketball with them. I love to play sports especially basketball and football. The reason I’m in the PAYC program is because of the Mayors program. When I came here I didn’t know much about the job and when this was done I got to do many things paint, draw and construct with wood.
Jared Eveillard, 15, Boston Arts Academy
I like to dance, play basketball and acting. From my experience at PAYC I’ve learned that public art is not just paintings or portraits. Also people are hard to talk about art from going to different youth groups and explaining to them. This type of art always has a message.
Thamar Jean - Fedestin, 15, North Cambridge Catholic High
I love to read and listen to music. I also love sleeping & surfing the web. I joined PAYC because of the mayors program. I enjoy drawing and I thought it would be an opportunity to draw and express myself while building the art gallery.
Sara Jefferson, 15, Cambridge Rindge & Latin
I like to generally have fun. I like to hang out with my friends and family. I also enjoy playing volleyball and running track at school. I like to listen to music. I listen to all types of music; I also like doing artistic activities as well. I mainly enjoy graphic design and commercial design. I’m interested in psychology and law too. I enjoyed being a part of PAYC because I learned about public art and got the chance to teach other teens about it. I also enjoyed making the gallery into a reflection of what we learned. I think it’s important fro people to know about and appreciate public art and know it’s theirs.
Obense Marin, 15, Cambridge Rindge & Latin
I enjoy doing many things. My favorite thing to do is to play basketball and to hang out with my friends. The reason why I joined PAYC is because I wanted to learn more about how it was made and see all the different types of public art there are.
Elliot A. S. Memmi, 14, Cambridge Rindge & Latin
I have a variety of hobbies. I enjoy many simple and complicated things and I dislike talking about my likes and dislikes.
I enjoyed the PAYC program because I got the opportunity to meet and teach others about public art. Also because of the fun I had setting up the gallery, I joined because I am enthusiastic and skillful when it comes to art.
Roze Merry, 15, Cambridge Rindge & Latin
I enjoy doing art, mainly clothing design, photography and drawing. I like going to the movies and hanging out with friend’s around Boston. I enjoy playing soccer, traveling and listening to music. The thing I enjoy most is sitting on my friends roof to look at the view of Boston and the sunrise is always fun. I was placed here by the mayors program and I enjoy it.
I enjoy seeing and learning about it and teaching teens about it. I think it’s made me more aware of public art and this whole experience is just that amazing, I would do this as a living if I could. Well, kind of……..
Anne Nicolas, 15, Community Charter School of Cambridge
I like to draw pictures of clothes, people, animals & cars.
I like to play basketball, volleyball & soccer in my spare time.
I wish to be a clothing designer someday and be rich. I chose PAYC because I like to draw and I like art. I thought it would be a good job for me.
Rayjaun Pollard, 15, Cambridge Rindge & Latin
I like to play basketball, draw, use the computer, and buy sneakers. What got me into public art was the mayors program. Through that I was able to look at art from different view by joining the PAYC.
Lydia Rodriguez,15, Cambridge Rindge & Latin
I like to do many things as long as they’re fun. If I’m not having fun I’m not having a good time. I love to hang out with my friends and family. I play tennis and volleyball and starting crew when the school year begins. Listening to music is my passion I go nowhere without my I pod without it my world seems lifeless because I think music is important to express yourself. I also enjoy shopping every time I get money I go straight to the mall. I’m interest rested in the biotechnology field and I hope in the future I will work for a laboratory and get good pay from it.
The reason why I’m a part of the program was because of the mayors program. I checked off art as one of my interests. I thought it would be cool and now after experiencing this whole experience from preparing the art gallery, going to different youth groups and just learning about public art. I would enjoy doing this again as a full time job or a summer job.
Becca Schofield is a senior at Cambridge Rindge and Latin high school. She became involved in art through Jon Baring-Gould’s ceramics class her sophomore year, and has continued her interest in ceramics at both CRLS and Mudflat studios in Somerville. Becca’s involvement in public art stems from collaborative ceramics projects around school and a regard for the contribution public art has made to Cambridge neighborhoods. Some of her other interests include biking and rowing.
