MAIN LIBRARY EXPANSION PROJECT
Background: Centrally located in Mid-Cambridge,
the Main Library is one of the busiest public libraries in
the Commonwealth. The goal of the expansion project is to
provide a state-of-the-art facility for new and traditional
library services through the construction of a new building
addition and renovation of the existing Main Library.
Approach: The selected artist will
work with library staff and the architectural design team
in the early building design stages to identify opportunities
for public art and then develop the project in detail. It
is expected that the artist will be involved in the interior
spaces of the new addition. The design team consists of William
Rawn Associates and Ann Beha Architects.
