Q. What is the Cambridge River Festival?
A. The Cambridge River Festival is a FREE one-day summer celebration of the arts along the banks of the Charles River, featuring:
- Hundreds of nationally known and local jazz, folk, blues, gospel, Latin and world music performers on multiple stages
- Public art installations designed for the festival
- Art-making activities for children (and adults!)
- Over 100 specialty food purveyors and craftspeople
Q. When is the River Festival?
A. The River Festival is on June 16th, 2007, starting at noon and ending at 6:00PM, rain or shine!
Q. Where is the River Festival and how do I get there?
A. The River Festival is located along Memorial Drive between JFK St. and Western Ave., between Harvard Square and Central Square. There is limited metered parking and parking lots available in Harvard Square, but they tend to be crowded and pricey, so we strongly suggest taking the subway or bus to Harvard Square station, which is only a brief 5-10 minute stroll from the festival.

Q. How much does it cost to attend?
A. The Cambridge River Festival is FREE! All stages, performances, and arts exhibitions are free and open to the public. However, our World of Food and Arts Bazaar vendors will be selling delicious foods and awesome gifts & crafts. We recommend you bring along some spending money.
Q. What is the schedule of events?
A. There will be different on-going performances on our three main stages as well as activities in the Kids' Area, World of Food, and Arts Bazaar throughout the day. Navigate our online map to find out more about the particular schedules going on at each location.
Q. Are pets allowed at the festival?
A. Yes, the Cambridge Arts Council welcomes EVERYONE (including pets) to join us for some fun and running around at the Cambridge River Festival. Keep in mind that all owners are responsible for the activities of their pets (and themselves).
Q. Is there parking available at the River Festival?
A. No festival parking is provided and roads near the festival are closed. We strongly recommend public transportation. The Harvard Square bus and subway station is a brief 5-10 minute stroll from the festival.
Q. Who is coming to this year's festival?
A. We have an exciting line-up of performers this year, notably indie soul phenomenon Maya Azucena who will performing two sets on the Regattabar Stage, and the Caitlin Corbett Dance Company who will include the audience in a "dance on the spot" participatory performance on the Twist Stage.
Q. What should I bring?
A. In order for you to most comfortably enjoy the River Festival, we recommend bringing the following items:
- Friends and family: don't forget these!
- A little spending money: Feel free to bring your own munchies but you might also want to save yourself for the World of Food, where you can taste cuisines from across the globe. There is also an Arts & Crafts bazaar where you can browse and purchase goods from local artisans.
- Sun protection: sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
- Something to sit on: bring a towel or small blanket so you can enjoy the performances comfortably.
- Something to throw around: Frisbees and footballs are welcomed but please be aware of those around you.
Q. How can I get involved?
A. We are currently looking for volunteers! Volunteers will be assigned to work 3-4 hour shifts that are between 7:00AM - 8:00PM on the day of the event. If you are interested, please e-mail Amy Dunbar at crfvolunteers@gmail.com.
